Nocellara-del-Belice-olive-tree.jpeg

Nocellara del Belice: (Italy) The bright green olives marketed as Castelvetrano olives are actually grown from the Nocellara del Belice cultivar from Sicily. It is a dual-purpose olive, grown both for oil and for the table. The tree produces large, green olives with a mild, buttery flavor.

Plant Information:

  • 85-88% flesh to pit ratio

  • Self-fertile

  • Prefers full sun

  • Fruit weight of 5 - 7 grams

Nocellara del Belice olive trees flower in May, ripen in the fall and are self-fertile. This means they do not need additional olive trees to produce olives, however yield will be better with a pollinator.

Fruit production usually starts between 2-4 years. At maturity they can grow between 20-30 feet in height with lanceolate, large and intense green leaves.
